GOD - JESUS - HOLY SPIRITT he Holy Trinity!

The Glorious Mystery of the Divinity.

THE HOLY TRINITY!

We are not talking about a complex theological theory, but about the ESSENTIAL NATURE of our God—ONE GOD in THREE distinct PERSONS, yet PERFECTLY UNITED in essence, purpose, and glory!

Scripture reveals to us this glorious truth:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” (2 Corinthians 13:13)

GOD THE FATHER – the Creator and Sustainer of all things!

JESUS CHRIST – the eternal Son, Savior, and Lord!

HOLY SPIRIT – the Comforter, Sanctifier, and Enabler!

  • THREE distinct PERSONS, yet ONE GOD!

  • THREE manifestations, but ONE essence!

  • THREE functions, but ONE divinity!

This is the GOD we worship, serve, and love!

Let us explore this fundamental truth which is the foundation of our Christian faith!

THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY:

1. Biblical Definition:

One God in Three Persons:

Christian Monotheism:

"Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one." (Deuteronomy 6:4)

  • ONE true God

  • THREE distinct persons

  • SAME divine essence

  • PERFECT unity

Not Three Gods:

  • It is not polytheism

  • They are not three separate beings

  • They are not parts of God

  • They are manifestations of the one God

Not One Person:

  • It is not modalism

  • They are not masks of God

  • They are not temporary phases

  • They are eternally distinct persons

2. Biblical Evidences of the Trinity:

In the Old Testament:

Plurality in Creation:

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness.’” (Genesis 1:26)

  • "Let us" – plural

  • "Our" – plural possessive

  • Indication of plurality in the Godhead

The Angel of the Lord:

“And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.” (Exodus 3:2)

  • Identified as God.

  • Distinct from the Father.

  • Pre-incarnate manifestation of Christ.

Triple Blessing:

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

  • Three invocations of the divine name

  • Trinitarian structure of the blessing

In the New Testament:

Baptism of Jesus:

"When Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on Him. And behold, a voice from heaven said, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’" (Matthew 3:16–17)

  • Jesus being baptized

  • Holy Spirit descending

  • Father speaking from heaven

  • Three persons simultaneously

Baptismal Formula:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)

  • "Name" (singular) – one God

  • Three persons mentioned

  • Equality of position

Apostolic Blessing:

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (2 Corinthians 13:13)

  • Three persons invoked

  • Specific attributes

  • Unity in the blessing

Lord Jesus Christ, I worship You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for leaving heavenly glory, becoming incarnate, living a perfect life, dying for my sins, and rising again in victory.

You are my life, my hope, my joy.

Holy Spirit, I worship You as my Comforter and Sanctifier. Thank You for convicting me of sin, regenerating me, dwelling in me, sealing me, sanctifying me, and empowering me. You are my strength, my guide, my power.

May I live each day aware of Your presence in my life. May I love the Father with all my heart, follow the Son with all my soul, and be guided by the Spirit in all my ways.
